Arlington Plating Company installed and started up an aluminum anodizing line at its Palatine, Illinois, headquarters. The new line represents over a $2 million investment and reflects the increased demand by the surface finishing industry for aluminum anodizing that reliably meets stringent OEM performance and design requirements.
Comprised of 44 process tanks, the 5,000 sq ft fully automated line produces MIL-A-8625 Type II (sulfuric) anodizing with high pH sealants, die coloring, and electro color capabilities. The line offers bright dip, lacquer/post-dip, and satin finishing applications. Meeting pH 13.0 requirements as mandated by the automotive industry for exterior trim applications, the automated line processes parts up to 100 inches in length.
The growth in anodizing is most pronounced in the automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries, all of which desire longer lasting, more durable/abrasion resistant coatings with high corrosion and wear protection. Enhanced aesthetics is cost-effectively achieved through a host of color match options. “APC’s long established and trusted finishing expertise ensures customers will be provided knowledge-based, process manufacturing far beyond the anodizing line,” said Richard Macary, president of Arlington Plating.
